Sigh. Sometimes--rarely, I must admit, these days--I just can't get out of my own way. The past two weeks have been simply awful. Let's chalk it up to some changes in meds (easily fixable), the weather (totally unreasonable weather for March in Maine!), and the continuing lack of uninterrupted sleep (toddler child of mine, I am looking at you. Through blurry eyes. There is NO fixing this problem, unless my child suddenly get over his night terrors).
I am Grumpy Cat in human form, and I HATE being like that!
So, just to cheer myself up, I'm doing a little photo dump. Yesterday I came home from school and was energized by the fact that it was FRIDAY and I didn't have to get up at o'dark thirty the next day!! I had enough energy to finally power drill the casters onto the Bambino's craft cart that I have gussied up. Last week we painted it with the perfect grey chalk paint, left over from a friend's bathroom vanity makeover. I made a vinyl stencil with my beloved Silhouette machine and painted the name of a relative from long ago who ran a European grocery import store in East Boston about 100 years ago, and then used the mod podge transfer technique to apply a vintage grocery graphic to one side. (Love the GraphicsFairy site! Go check it out!) The Bambino and I looked at vintage Italian advertising images and he picked a few of his favorites to slap on the sides next week.
The finishing touch was putting on the casters, which was ridiculously hard. (Or maybe it was just because . . . I was being Grumpy Cat?). At any rate, it got done, and then the BEST part was how long the Bambino wanted to spend drawing on the bottom of a crate with a Sharpie. Who knew that would be so utterly entrancing?!
Moral of the story: unexpected joy (Sharpie and a crate) can be granted even unto a Grumpy Cat in human form. Thank you, Lord!
